WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF CHESAPEAKE & OHIO STEAM LOCOMOTIVE NO. 614

Discover the history, restoration, and future of Chesapeake & Ohio Railway No. 614—one of America’s most significant surviving mainline steam locomotives.

Built by Lima-Hamilton in June 1948, C&O 614 is a legendary 4-8-4 Greenbrier-type locomotive that once carried passenger trains through the demanding terrain of the Allegheny Mountains. Today, she remains an enduring symbol of American engineering, railroading, and steam-era innovation.

C&O 614 is now undergoing a comprehensive restoration and federally required 1,472-service-day inspection at the Strasburg Rail Road under the direction of RJD America LLC.

RJD America is also proud to partner with the National Railroad Equipment Preservation Foundation, an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to railroad preservation, public education, volunteer engagement, and developing the hands-on skills needed to support the future of historic railroad equipment.

Follow the restoration, explore her remarkable history, and become part of the effort to return this legendary locomotive to operation.
