614 was proud to be a partner with N&W 611 for the " Celebration of Thoroughbreds" exhibit held at the Virginia Museum of Transportation from January through May 2011. These two steam giants represented the pinnacle of steam locomotive design and the very last built of their breed. The exhibit drew record crowds to the VMT and generated lots of media attention. Immediately after the VMT exhibition 614 was moved courtesy of the Norfolk Southern and Buckingham Branch railroads from Roanoke to Clifton Forge,Va. where she has been the star attraction at the C&O Historical Society's Heritage Center generating record visitors and media attention. On July 25th, the painters began their work of transforming 614 into her new Greenbrier Presidential Express livery. She will move in late August to White Sulphur Springs, W. Va. and be put on display there as a coming attraction good will ambassador for the ultra luxury Greenbrier Presidential Express train which is slated to commence service to the resort from Washington, DC in July 2012. The GPE will be an all diesel powered train with 614 remaining on display at White Sulphur Spings as a static good will ambassador. Please come visit her at White Sulphur Springs anytime after Labor Day Monday, September 2012.
